N. Jakarta Mayor Supports Improvement of Worker Welfare

As many as 2,850 workers packed the Rawa Badak Stadium, Rawa Badak Selatan Urban Village, Koja, North Jakarta to commemorate May Day.

This year's May Day is packed with various events

North Jakarta Mayor, Ali Maulana Hakim strongly supports efforts to improve the welfare of workers.

"This is of course the duty, function and role of the government to improve the welfare of its people. We always try to have no worries in trying and working thus to create prosperity in terms of the community's economy," he expressed, Wednesday (5/1).

No Odd-Even Traffic Policy on May 1, 2024

He gave appreciation for the presence of thousands of workers at the May Day commemoration organized by the North Jakarta administration together with the local Tripartite Cooperation Institute (LKS) and related stakeholders.

"This is also a gathering place for workers to get to know each other. Let's celebrate this togetherness happily," he explained.

He added the North Jakarta Tripartite LKS was ready to accommodate all workers' aspirations to be discussed and realized according to its capacity.

"It aims to ensure that no worry for anyone who runs a business and works, thereby creating economic prosperity," he added.

North Jakarta May Day Committee Chairman, Bambang Haryanto uttered those attending today came from some federations and trade unions in North Jakarta.

"This year's May Day is packed with various events such as musical entertainment, donations, distribution of BPJS cards, cheap food bazaars, blood donations, health checks, and door prize distribution," he explained.

He added this packaged workers' ideals that fit into the sub-theme of the event, namely, "Prosperous Workers, Advanced Entrepreneurs, Successful North Jakarta".

"We all agree that the investment value in North Jakarta must be better and more conducive. So, we invite our colleagues to hold a useful activity like this," he added.

He plans that May Day next year will be packaged as Family Labor because family such as children and wives are part of the support or encouragement in working.

"God willing, next year, we will hold it again by inviting the families of workers and laborers to make it even more festive and united," he added.

The May Day action received appreciation from one of the workers, Usman (46).

"Very happy and entertained, hopefully next year we can do it again. Hopefully, the workers' welfare in North Jakarta can continue to improve," he closed.
